I have been a Licensed stylist for many years and I love what I do. For me there is nothing better than being able to help someone look and feel better about themselves. I am fortunate to have contact with so many amazing people such as my clients and co-workers who enrich my life. I beleive continuing education helps me stay current and motivated.

I have been a member of the Special FX family from the beginning. I am trained and specialize in several color systems. I am very confident in my consultation skills which helps me achieve what my clients envision, which makes them look and feel the best they can be.

I have been at Special FX Salon for the past 17 years and have 23 years of experience cutting, coloring, and styling hair. I am trained in multiple color systems and enjoy using my knowledge to create exactly what my clients are envisioning. One of the things I love the most about my job, is that each day presents new hair adventures and all kinds of interesting and fun people.

I have been a hairstylist for 35 plus years and still love what I do. I am experience in color, highlights, cuts, and Keratin Smoothing Treatments. I am also very experienced in weddings, proms, and special event hair. I am very up-to-date on the hairstyling industry, staying knowledgable to keep my clients informed.

Born into the business,(my mother owned two salons) I have over 40 years of experience. My clientele ranges from weekly shampoo sets and blow outs to coloring and trendy cuts. My goal is to always make my clients feel relaxed, yet confidant that they will leave with a style that can be easily maintained. I especially enjoy working with fine hair to make it look it's fullest. I have built long lasting, close relationships with my clients and am a good listener. I enjoy my very warm and professional work place at Special FX Salon.

I have been a licensed Cosmetologist since 2007 and a licensed Barber since 2017. I have also taught at schools like, The Paul Mitchell School and College of San Mateo. I basically grew up in an salon, my mom was a stylist for overs 50 years, so naturally this industry chose me. I enjoy doing as much as I can for my clients while they are in my chair. Their time is precious and I value their trust in me.

One of the reasons I've been able to stay in demand is by consistantly attending continued education on trends and techniques. Nothing makes me happier than watching a client leave my salon looking and feeling better about their hair than when they arrived.
Alissa Thal

Alissa has been at Special FX since 2013 and styling since 2010. She specializes in highlighting, free form color, Keratin & Brazilian blow outs. She works by appointment and spends her free time with her niece and nephew! Winter is her favoriate and she is a Bay Area native, growing up with two sisters and a brother in Redwood City, California.
